Sharpe Diamond Cattle Co.
Sharpe Diamond herd at golden hour on Texas pasture

Our herd

Bred for the Land.
Built to Last.

A disciplined commercial herd on 44 acres of Coastal Bermuda and Bahia pasture in Simsboro, Texas. Every animal carries a permanent number, brand, and lifetime record.

The Sharpe Diamond standard

Four proven breeds

We run a mixed commercial herd built around Charolais, Brahman, Brangus, and Red Angus. Each was chosen for its adaptability to Central Texas conditions, its temperament, and its long-term value as a foundation animal.

Every head on this property is numbered, branded, recorded, and managed with the same discipline I learned in the Marine Corps. We don’t cut corners on genetics, records, health protocols, or pasture management.

Registered Charolais bulls

Bubba and Tango

Two AICA-registered Charolais bulls built our breeding program, with documented bloodlines, proven genetics, and the muscle to produce quality calves across the herd. Bubba has since been sold, and his genetics carry forward in our cows and calves. Tango is our herd sire today.

The next generation

The fall 2026 calf crop

Calving season is underway. These calves hit the ground in October. Each one is tagged, recorded, and checked over soon after birth, while its mother keeps a close eye on the process.

The cow herd

Four breeds. One standard.

Brahman heifer, tag 24, standing by the pens

Heat-hardy. Parasite-resistant. Built for Texas.

Brahman

Brahman cattle are the backbone of Central Texas commercial operations. Their heat tolerance, parasite resistance, and efficient grazing suit them to the demanding conditions of Central Texas pasture. Known for longevity and strong maternal instincts, they anchor our cow herd.

  • Superior heat and humidity tolerance
  • Exceptional parasite resistance
  • Efficient grazers on native pasture
  • Long productive lifespan
  • Strong maternal instincts
Brangus cow number 25, Big Mama, in pasture

Heat-tolerant. Proven carcass. Built for Texas.

Brangus

Brangus combine the best of two breeds: the marbling, carcass quality, and growth of Angus with the heat tolerance, parasite resistance, and hardiness of Brahman. Registered Brangus are 3/8 Brahman and 5/8 Angus, a balance developed for Southern conditions. The result is a docile, efficient animal that holds up through a Texas summer and still delivers the beef quality buyers want.

  • Angus marbling and carcass quality
  • Brahman heat and humidity tolerance
  • Good parasite and insect resistance
  • Docile and easy to handle
  • Strong demand in Southern markets

Copper-coated. Proven genetics.

Red Angus

Red Angus share the performance genetics of Black Angus with added heat tolerance from their lighter coat. Known for fertility, maternal ability, and consistent carcass quality, they complement our Charolais bulls to produce well-muscled, fast-growing calves.

  • Excellent fertility and maternal ability
  • Heat tolerance advantage
  • Consistent carcass quality
  • Strong growth rates
  • Complements Charolais crossbreeding

Herd management

Records. Discipline. The long view.

Every animal on the property carries a permanent number, brand, and lifetime record: health history, breeding dates, and performance data. This is the foundation of a multigenerational operation.

Our pastures get the same disciplined attention as our cattle. We practice rotational grazing to give each pasture rest and recovery between grazing cycles, and we maintain all fencing to keep the herd where it belongs. Our Bahia grass pastures are fertilized on a seasonal schedule and treated for broadleaf weeds and invasive species to maximize forage quality and stand density. Healthy ground grows healthy cattle. That is a management plan, not a philosophy.
